Help Me Help Myself

Folks, help me:

When you’re feeling glass-half-empty, and you really would like to not feel so glum, what do you do to perk yourself up? I tried a trip to Target and a mint/Oreo ice cream from Coldstone*, and while that helped temporarily, I’m back to feeling kinda blah.

IDEAS?

*I realize I forgot the Starbucks element of making myself happy today, but I can’t do ice cream AND a cappuccino. My tummy only has room for so much yummy goodness, and the weather dictated that ice cream was the better way to go.

  1. Paint my nails, eat chocolate, listen to music on my shuffle ipod, bake something, put on a cute outfit and more makeup than I usually wear, do something fun with my hair, hang out with small children (you probably would not find that as thrilling as me, as you live with them 24/7), lose myself in a fiction fluff book (I love those some days!), go buy a plant at a nursery (why this excites me, I don’t know, but it does), blog, call someone, and finally…….

…..try to withstand the overwhelming temptation to make and consume an entire bowl of fudge brownie batter.

I hope you find some special ways that you love to make yourself feel better.

  2. Watch the news. And count my blessings.

Everytime I watch the news, I instantly feel better about my life.I didn’t lose a loved one on the bridge that collapsed, none of my family or friends were buried alive in the mines, etc…

Or, if that doesn’t work, I just accept that when I’m feeling glum, the glum feeling is only temporary. And it’ll make me that much more appreciative when I’m feeling happy & upbeat again.

    Hope you’re feeling better now.
