Weekly Winners: I Was In Chicago Edition

Chicago is one of my favorite cities – I love the opportunities I’ve had to spend time there.

Weekly Winners – I didn’t go to BlogHer Edition

Look, I don’t begrudge the folks in NYC the fabulous, fun time that they’re having. I see their tweets and it sounds like they’re having fun, getting to hang with friends and mosey around NYC. It just didn’t make sense for me to go this time around.

But I miss seeing all their lovely faces. And yeah. I kinda wish I was there.

It’s been a long week here.

First, there was this.

Between the injured puppy and the cranky children who want to run and play with said puppy even though said puppy is supposed to be calm and mellow and take it easy so he doesn’t further injure his leg, well… it’s been one of those weeks that drives me to curl up on the couch in my jammies before I even tuck in the kids.

My Old Navy pajama pants. I’m so fancy.

It’s been a long week.

And hoping something better comes tomorrow…”

So, the puppy’s leg is fractured, there was a birthday in the house, and… uh… what else? I’m sorry, summer is just a big giant blur and each day blends into the day before it. It’s probably no surprise, after listening to me gripe about winter and now gripe about summer that I am not a fan of weather extremes — spring and fall? I love ’em though.

"I bet this is how your kids, and grand kids, are going to remember you. They aren't even going to remember you had eyes."

Sugar dusted chocolate chips.

Isn't this the saddest thing you ever saw? Now that he's on the mend, he's got a tremendous amount of energy though. It's kind of translating into aggression. CANNOT WAIT til the splint comes OFF.

I love how my dirty mirror almost looks like fancy bokeh. It's not bokeh! It's toothpaste splatter. Awesome.

Yes, it's probably one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

My kid brought this bear into my office - one more thing on my desk. I suppose if I cleaned it, I could actually use it. The rubik's cubes are for a photo project I haven't done yet.

Another week gone by – Summer is when I struggle a lot with trying to balance work and play and all my children-schlepping duties and then I’m kind of not picking up the camera nearly as often as I want. Be sure to check out more weekly winners over with Lotus.

I guess it’s only fair I warn you:

I didn’t really do anything this week. I have been a hormonal cranky beast (PMS, how I love thee!), and swamped with work and appointments and trying to get from here to there and there to here while balancing and juggling and spinning plates on little sticks and trying to not drop anything.

I survived.

But not much quality time with my Canon (*sad face*). Be sure to pop on over to visit Lotus and the other Weekly Winner participants, though.

Mentos + diet soda = fun Sunday night for the family

My daughters picked these for me. I'm lucky.

Had my first run-in with puppy vomit on Friday. He's okay now, though.

Weekly Winners, Traverse City Style

Gosh, y’all… I could easily go another week posting pictures of the puppy dog (No, it wasn’t totally intentional that we got such a photogenic dog, but dang, he’s supah cute), but I will refrain from overloading you with canine snapshots, and instead travel back to midweek when I ventured up north.

Ironically, I woke up Wednesday morning feeling very not so fond of the state of Michigan – probably partly related to the stifling crazy heat we’ve had – but then? I drove a few hours, put my feet in the sand and spent hours with friends talking beneath the stars. Suddenly, Michigan looks a little better.

I have been to Traverse City many times over the years – but oddly there is so much of it I haven’t seen. I actually really enjoyed having the opportunity to wander around and see new places.

I love elephant ears. I didn’t get one. I fought the urge. But MAN. I love them.

Ferris wheels scare the bejeebers out of me. But they’re SO FREAKIN’ PRETTY.

Oh hi, Lake Michigan.

The drive home was rainy. Very very rainy. I finally pulled off at a gas station to wait out some of the rain.

Weekly Winners – It’s Mostly About the Puppy

In a week where the biggest thing that happened is that we got a new puppy, I guess you can expect that yes, there’s lots of pictures of the new pup who is so freakin’ adorable (thank goodness, because… I’m pretty sure I’m allergic. Send Zyrtec. STAT).

And be sure to have a very Happy (AND SAFE) Fourth of July!

Yep. He chose us so we choose him.

We're crate training. The first day? It was NOT fun. Little Dude likes his crate much better now.

Yep. He's kind of stolen our hearts with the cute.

He's usually this mellow. Chillaxin' in the grass.

Oh, but wait! We didn't just get a puppy. I bought myself a new lens too.

Happy Fourth of July, y'all!

I’ve gurmbled and griped a lot this week, but no matter how busy I’ve been or what part of the state I’ve been in, OF COURSE, I had my camera with me. Here are some of my favorite shots. For more awesome weekly winners be sure to visit Lotus and the other participants.

The Dude must live here.

Weekly Winners – Week ending 6.19.10

This week was a tough one – we started the week on Sunday a three hour drive back from one of those vacations that’s not really a vacation to find that my mother’s sister-in-law and her aunt both passed away on the same day in what can only be described as one cosmically messed up coincidence.  Meanwhile, in the midst of all this the kids and I kicked off our first week of summer — and we’re in the process of trying to find our groove. And, well, there’s been other assorted stuff going on that has made for a less than stellar week. We rounded out the week with Pumpkin’s fish dying this morning — so, I figure I’m kind of justified in not having taken any fabulous pictures.

Be sure to stop by Lotus’s place and check her out and see the other Weekly Winner peeps (all of which will have maybe had a little more somethin’ somethin’ to show you).

Crappy week? RETAIL THERAPY! My new High Key camera strap.

Welcome to the family, Belle. This was a gift from the friend whose wedding I shot in May. Pretty awesome gift. I had been drooling over Belle on the epiphanie bags website for a LONG time.
