Thursday Ten: It’s MARCH Edition

1. Whoohoo! It’s finally March! I was hoping the new month would bring instantaneous warmer weather, but it didn’t. It’s a bummer, but that’s alright. Soon enough… right? What is the weather like where you are? Still cold and wintery or are you seeing signs of spring?

2. You vloggers AMAZE ME. I tried to vlog today and I realized something very important: I say UM a lot. Also? I scratch my forehead when I don’t really have anything to say.

3. New music of the week – Watsky. It came recommended to me by people who like booty-shaking music. It’s rap/hip hop, so if that’s NOT your thing, you probably won’t like it. But I’m enjoying it.

4. This morning, I was thinking about a friendship of mine that is no longer – a friend of mine from high school and college and how you go from being great friends and then you don’t talk anymore. And I was thinking of songs that reminded me of her – so many songs remind me of her – and this one does, so much.

5. I am going to email the friend I referenced in number four because the thing is, when I started thinking of the songs that reminded me of her – I had a lot of great memories and reminders of the fun we had together. And sure, we may never be close again like we were when we were younger – but the memories are so fun.

6. I went to Panera for lunch on Tuesday and was greeted by name. “Hi Sarah!” I actually stopped in my tracks – my Panera habit isn’t as excessive as my Starbucks habit – but i go maybe once a week… So it was kind of surprising that they remember my name. But, I also find it really cool, too. When I was a waitress (BRIEFLY) I was the kind that remembered people’s names and their order – it’s just how my brain works – so I think it’s pretty awesome when people do it.

7. I made my first ETSY purchase the other day! I saw these super cool magnets on Brene’ Brown’s blog and had to go buy one for myself. The artist is Allison Strine – the delivery was speedy, and it came packaged cutely. And I LOVE IT.

8. In guitar lesson, we’re still working on music by Mat Kearney. (I love Mat Kearney). This isn’t actually a difficult song – as far as chords go. Actually, as far as anything goes – for the most part it’s pretty easy. I never thought I’d describe anything relating to the guitar as easy. It’s neat to see progress – I guess it’s been a few years – there SHOULD be progress. I’m never going to be a professional caliber musician – but that’s okay. I don’t need to be. I like finding the joy in doing something that’s for myself.

9. I bought myself some sunflowers the other day to celebrate the first of March. At ninety-nine cents a stem, it was a cheap dose of happiness.

10. Y’all know my love of Greek yogurt and honey – I’ve added a bit of joy to the mix. CRUSHED WALNUTS. Mind blown. It’s amazing. I’m easily amused. Yeah. Yum. Yogurt. Yay. {insert other words that start with Y here}

Comments

  1. 1. Try taking the honey out of the Greek yogurt and adding unsweetened raspberries (w/ the nuts) instead. That’s my breakfast 3-4 days each week!

    2. When my kids were little, I used to work in the nursery at the health club several mornings each week. I got into the habit of picking up McDonalds on the way home so we could have a “quick” lunch. I stopped doing that after the drive-thru woman said to me, “Wow, you got a haircut! Looks great!”

    It’s my belief that unless they are personal friends, drive-thru employees shouldn’t notice new hair.
