Running On Empty

Pumpkin’s sleep schedules still suck. It took eons to get her to bed last night, then she was up every 20 minutes or so. At about 12:45 a.m., she was up and pretty wide awake. I ended up taking her downstairs to feed her (I soooooo don’t want to get her into the feeding at night habit, but if it’s a growth spurt, she’s hungry, right?).

Got to channel surfing and watching Conan O’Brien for a few minutes. That man wears more makeup in one night of his show than I will wear all year, I bet. It was a little eerie how much blush the guy had on. Yes, I know he has prominent cheekbones, but really – the make up was a little heavy handed.

Surfed on over to the Food Network, where I stumbled on an episode of Rachael Ray. I’m a new Rachael Ray junkie – funny, because I hate cooking, but love how she just kind of throws everything in, and doesn’t really measure anything (“Eyeball it” or “Use a few glugs” are how she measures). Got sucked into that – it was a 60 minute holiday meal instead of the usual 30-minute-meal. Made being up a little more bearable.

Finally got Pumpkin to bed at about quarter to two. At about 4:15 a.m., The Princess came in to wake me up asking me to lay down with her. She fell asleep again pretty quickly, but suffice it to say, I’m exhausted today. I have no patience, I have huge dark bags under my eyes. The Princess is crabby as well (she woke up hubby at 4:40 telling him there was a lady bug in her room, so I guess she was not sleeping well last night either).

Have been reading “Sleeping All Night” by Jodi Mindell this morning, trying to figure out what to do to make these girlies sleep. Mom needs a nap!
